AI Disclosure
What AI does - and does not do - inside SpEd Coach. What that means for your team.
Last updated June 2026
AI Assists With
- Drafting IEP sections, including PLAAFP statements, goals, services, and accommodations
- Generating Prior Written Notice drafts for ARD coordinator review
- Drafting evaluation report sections for diagnostician review
- Summarizing meeting notes and deliberation records
- Reviewing and organizing uploaded educational records
- Generating scheduling optimization suggestions for related service providers
- Extracting structured data from uploaded educational documents
AI Does Not
- Determine eligibility for special education services
- Make placement decisions

- Provide legal, medical, or clinical advice
- Act on behalf of a user without explicit in-product action and confirmation
- Replace the professional judgment of educators, evaluators, case managers, or legal counsel
Human Review Is Always Required
Every AI-generated output in SpEd Coach must be reviewed, edited, and approved by a qualified professional before it is shared, signed, filed, or used to inform any decision about a student. AI output may contain errors, omissions, or fabrications. The platform is designed to surface AI assistance as a drafting tool - not as a source of final documents.
Privacy-Aware AI Processing
Before any content is sent to an external AI model provider, SpEd Coach applies a privacy-aware processing pipeline that includes PII detection, automated redaction, and tokenization where applicable. This is designed to minimize exposure of personally identifiable student information.
No automated system can guarantee perfect PII detection. Users should avoid entering raw student identifiers (names, SSNs, student IDs) into free-text AI prompt fields.
Organization Controls
- AI can be enabled or disabled at the organization level
- AI can be disabled per individual module
- Monthly AI action usage limits are visible to administrators and can be configured
- All AI invocations are logged for administrator review
- Action allotments are transparent - users see their remaining balance before every AI task
AI Action Definition
AI usage is measured in AI Actions. One AI Action = one time SpEd Coach AI performs a meaningful task on your behalf (drafting, summarizing, extracting, or optimizing). Uploading documents, tagging, viewing results, and exporting are always free and never consume an Action. Records Review uses 1 Action per 25 pages (maximum 10 Actions per submission). First AI failure is free; retry uses 1 Action.
